Change of Bars

Thought I would change the bars on the Harley as the other ones were very uncomfortable after a short time. Decided to try 16 inch apes with 1 inch risers. Now the bike is more comfortable and I can ride for longer without feeling any pain in my lower back

Kawasaki ZZR1100

It's been awhile since I've been able to update this site. Been that busy lately that the poor old ZZR has been left to sit. Just haven't had the time to do any work on the bikes, the only one that is ridden is the Harley at the moment. So now I have more time to myself again I will be working on the GPZ900 and slowly rebuilding the ZZR.

So the first thing will be collecting the parts to rebuild the ZZR's front end. Then go from there. First thing is to work out why the damn thing doesn't want to start. Recharged the battery and put fresh fuel in but the thing just keeps winding over, not even sounding like it wants to fire up. Looks like I'm going to have to dig a little deeper to find the problem.

Harley Upgrade

Just went and fitted a set of Progressive rear shocks. The change in handling was like night and day. The Harley no longer moves around when cornering at speed and sits on the road nicely. Also they soak up the bumps really well and I can ride around all day without getting a sore back, the old shocks were well past their use by date so in the bin they went.
Next on the todo list is a set of monotubes for the forks to firm up the front end.

New Bike

Haven't updated this blog for a while as I've been flat with work and doing other jobs. Decided that I needed another bike so went out and brought a Night Train. Nothing like any thing else I've ridden but a whole lot of fun. It didn't take long before I went and fitted a set of cams to give it a little bit more grunt. Not sure if I will change the pipe yet, the Rinehart is nice and works well with the cams but is just a bit on the loud side. Haven't been harassed by the cops yet but it's just a matter of time before they jump on me because of the noise.

Frame Cleaned

Been a while because of other commitments but finally have the frame cleaned up and fixed ready for painting. Hope to get this done within the next couple of weeks. Have just moved house and need to sort out an area to turn into a workshop first.

Have also decided to purchase another bike, thinking of a Suzuki DR650. Time to get back into dirt riding again. Haven't done that for a number of years so I think I'm going to have to start exercising and getting fit again. Hope to do some long distance adventure riding later this year once I get the bike and get it set up.

New Toy

Just picked this 1990 ZZR1100 for a song. The original idea was to pull it down and use the running gear for the GPZ900 and off sell the parts I don't need. That went out the window after I purchased this thing as it runs really well and it would be a shame to do that so I might keep riding this one until I finish with the 900. Looks like I still have to hunt down another ZZR that can be used for the donor bike.

Gotta get my finger out

Been a long time since I've been able to start on the project. With Xmas just gone. The finances have dried up a little so it's going to be a struggle to get the funds to really get stuck into this project. The pic at the top of the page has been changed to one I found on the internet. When I get this thing finished it hopefully should look something like this with a slightly different colour scheme. While this bike is getting built I will probaly purchase another 900 to ride around on as not having a running bike and being stuck driving a car around is starting to send me crazy.
At least I managed to fix the hole that was drilled into the frame by the idiot who had owned it previously. Just have to get the frame painting finished then I will put up a before and after pic of the frame. Currently researching the best option for the radiator and which ones fit the best.
